A Saturday Wander Around Hackney Way
This Saturday just gone I decided to take the W15 from Leyton to Hackney for a little wander. The W15 takes you past the Olympic site, high enough up to have a nosy on progress, which is great. In the glorious sunshine I defy anyone not to feel a buzz of exitement for what is to come (ignoring the inevitable traffic chaos, but hey we will be able to walk…)
The bus stops outside Hackney Town Hall near a street sign for Wilton Way so it was time to finally visit Violet Cakes. The best photo’s are here on this exquisite blog This Is Naive. It really is a beautiful and charming little place, and tucked a little out of the way, but not too far from London Fields, the Lido End. An oasis away from the crowds of Broadway Market and the sun worshipers out on mass on London Fields. It really was glorious weather, and on a weekend!
I was on the way to check out the new Designers Makers market on Warburton Road, just down from The London Fields pub on Mare Street and around the corner from London Fields and the super busy Broadway Market, but the other end from the Lido. Great quality makers, very tempting cake, great coffee – a little oasis away from the crowds of Broadway Market and only a stones throw away. Their Facebook page is here with some great photos.
Ever a dog spotter, this was a little gem of a find in Broadway Market in the lovely Stella Blunt shop. This rather wistful looking Whippet is in fact a ceramic dog created by the very talented Sue Whimster, as were the rest of these lovely specimens:
Then there were the real life specimens all out enjoying the sunshine. rather a good dog spotting Saturday….
