Sick Leave

July 27, 2010

Last week EdwynUK underwent some minor surgery.

Me on my knee.
Edwyn on his paw.
Yes, we both had surgery on the same day.
Never underestimate your dog’s determination to join in with whatever you are doing – quite literally!

The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital team were great, very organised and lovely and friendly.
The hospital has secured funding for a major rebuild, which it obviously needs on the one hand, but on the other there was great charm in the outdated, corrugated clad wards which reminded me of Carry on Doctor.
Surely, I daydreamed, coming round from the aesthetic, there’s room for a Vintage Hospital? Get rid of the 80’s bed curtains and attempts to update the place, and settle back in a lovely hospital green, cream and black colour scheme. Some proper old hospital beds and church hall green and canvas chairs?
Yes, not quite suitable for the RNOH, but it did keep me amused…..

So, Edwyn had the nasty seed head removed that had worked it’s way all the way up inside his paw. So hardy are these terriers that it only started to bother him when it became infected, and we only noticed something was up when he kept chewing his paw and hiding himself away in his crate.
So beware! Those seeds are nasty and are everywhere at the moment. Remember to check over your dog after every walk. Luckily we are insured (with Animal Friends who support UK animal charities)

As for me, I have a long history of knee problems (30 years, gulp!) this procedure was for a thorough investigation and clean up, so I will be out of action for a while regarding Spitalfields, but will be attending to the website and online selling, as well as hobbling along to the July Craft Guerrilla Market this coming Saturday, with some help!

I will keep the blog posted and let it be known when things are back to normal…..soon I hope!

So keep yourselves and your dogs out of trouble and enjoy the summer!

Louise & Edwyn xx

I make a very impatient invalid, but Edwyn is back to normal…
Am so pleased you won tickets! I did enter, but wasn’t so lucky. It sounds like it’s going to be quite something.

Hi Clare, lovely to hear from you! Yes, the knee is gradually recovering, thanks.
I’m glad you didn’t have a wasted journey, but it a shame I didn’t get to see you this time. I do of course remember you and your lovely dog cards (I’ve still got them, as couldn’t bear to give them away…)
      My email is louise@edwynuk.com
Take care and keep in touch x
